New Diagnostic Instrument Coming March 2021 (Posted 02/20/2021)
At BVA, we are dedicated to providing the latest in ophthalmic technological advancements that increases our diagnostic capabilities and represents a direct benefit to our patients eye health. We are excited to announce that coming in late March a new OCT instrument, the Optovue iVue 80 OCT, will arrive in our clinic and will replace the current Optovue iVue OCT we have depended upon over the past 10 years. This represents a major upgrade in terms of speed and quality of images as well as increased diagnostic capabilities in glaucoma and macular degeneration. The new instrument is capable of 80,000 scans per second which is over 3x faster than the 25,000 scans per second that the older instrument was capable of. For our patients it will be much easier to hold one's eye open for the testing and our technicians and doctors will appreciate higher quality scans. In addition to speed, the size of the scanned area will be larger allowing the doctors to view more tissue at one time and better visualize relationships among the structures scanned. We will be offering an eye wellness package as an addition to one's comprehensive eye exam that includes Optos retinal imaging combined with a general eye health scan from the iVue 80 OCT at a significant value for our patients - please ask a staff member for details.
